Justice Smith, de “Por Lugares Incríveis”, revela ser queer e assume namoro com ator

Justice Smith, protagonista do filme Por Lugares Incríveis da Netflix, se abriu sobre ser queer com um post poderoso igualdade para as vozes negras, queer e trans, durante os protestos em apoio ao movimento “Black Lives Matter”. Além de se abrir sobre sua sexualidade, o ator também incluiu na publicação uma foto com o atual namorado, Nicholas Ashe.

Em um post na noite de sexta-feira (5), Justice compartilhou imagens de um protesto em Nova Orleans e refletiu sobre “Black Trans Lives Matter”, “Black Queer Lives Matter” e “All Black Lives Matter”.

“Como homem negro queer, fiquei desapontado ao ver certas pessoas ansiosas por dizer que ‘vidas pretas importam’, mas segurando a língua quando Trans, Queer foi adicionado. Se a sua revolução não inclui as vozes do Black Queer, é anti-negra. Se sua revolução é boa em deixar pessoas negras transexuais como Tony McDade escaparem das rachaduras, a fim de libertar unicamente os negros cishet, é anti-negro”, escreveu o ator relembrando o caso de Tony McDade, um homem negro trans, que foi baleado e morto por um policial em 27 de maio, no norte da Flórida, dois dias após a morte de George Floyd.

Ele continuou explicando que é parte de um condicionamento chegar o mais próximo da brancura, heterossexualidade e masculinidade, porque é aí que está o poder.

“Você está tentando passar pela porta de um sistema projetado contra você e depois fechar a porta atrás de você. E se apelarmos para isso, talvez isso nos dê uma fatia. Mas a revolução não tem a ver com apelo. Trata-se de exigir o que deveria ter sido dado a nós desde o início”.

Smith explicou que sua decisão de adicionar algumas fotos de si mesmo e seu namorado era para aliviar a timeline de seus fãs, que foram inundadas com tanta tragédia.

As a black queer man myself, I was disappointed to see certain people eager to say Black Lives Matter, but hold their tongue when Trans/Queer was added. I want to reiterate this sentiment: if your revolution does not include Black Queer voices, it is anti-black. If your revolution is okay with letting black trans people like #TonyMcDade slip through the cracks in order to solely liberate black cishet men, it is anti-black. You are trying to push yourself through the door of a system designed against you, and then shut the door behind you. It is in our conditioning to get as close to whiteness, straightness, maleness as we can because that’s where the power is. And if we appeal to it, maybe it’ll give us a slice. But the revolution is not about appeal. It is about demanding what should have been given to us from the beginning. What should have been given to black, queer, and trans individuals from the beginning. Which is the right to exist. To live and prosper in public. Without fear of persecution or threat of violence.
